Sara Al Bander - Deepop to King Lane

One of our favourite brands at The Pink Room, Sara's planters are such high quality and her business ethics mirror everything we support - plus the colours are vibrant and empowering so Sarora Knots really captures TPR.

From Sara:

I started Sarora Knots with a focus on bold and playful design. I hand pick all the colours and make the plant hangers in small batch collections. The range of planters I offer all have a few things in common: high quality recycled fabrics, functionality, and bright tones. A lot of my statement designs are created after a fun process of collating inspiration from places like 80’s retro magazines, or thrifted homewares, and then brought to life in my home studio.

‘Sarora’ is a nickname my parents have called me since I was little. It’s really comforting and familiar to me, and it’s a constant reminder of all the support they have shown me and my brand. ‘Knots’ naturally came after it, as I use a lot of traditional macrame techniques to make my planters. Experimenting with these knots have over time formed the Sarora Knots signature style.

I’m Sara, 26 and the hands behind Sarora Knots. My brand began on Depop in the summer of 2016, just after I’d graduated university and moved back home. In an attempt to make my empty room at my parents feel like home again, I was on the search for some plant hangers to bring the space to life. I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for, so I did a bit of research into materials, and decided to make my own. 5 years, and a lot of experimenting later, Sarora Knots has blossomed into something I could never have dreamed of. Running my business has remained a constant source of creativity and happiness in my life, and it still brings me so much joy that hundreds of people across the world have something I have made, hanging up in their home!
